WHAT IS THE ECO KITCHEN?
The ECO Kitchen offers delicious, vegetarian meals of outstanding value through Kathir, as well as premium personalized catering through Out of the Box (OOB). More than just a tantalizing treat, every ECO Kitchen meal helps to improve the lives of underserved families in Chennai.
The ECO Kitchen is a social entrepreneurship project of the YR Gaitonde Foundation (YRG). Project ECO (Enhancing Community Opportunities) helps those affected by social, economic and other challenges. Through a food retail program, the ECO Kitchen provides these individuals with opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Not just another meal!
The ECO Kitchen offers a wide variety of options, including savory idlis and other snacks, traditional millet meals, and full spread thali. Most meals are also offered with an organic and diet option, and all will delight and satisfy your senses. Our food will always taste fresh, incorporate healthy ingredients, and be prepared to the highest standards of hygiene and quality. While it provides for your health and pleases your palate, your meal supports the communities that Project ECO serves.
Where are we located?
The ECO Kitchen is an 18000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in Injambakkam (near the ECR). The facility has the capacity to produce 30000 meals per mealtime. The Kitchen utilizes innovative, eco- conscious technology, including biomass briquettes, solar panels, a condensation recovery system, an expansive drainage system and a wastewater treatment plant that irrigates our garden. We have carefully crafted our production to minimize our impact on the environment.
